Palm Sunday: Bring People to Safety

Palm Sunday: Bring People to Safety

Palm Sunday has a long history as a day to stand up and challenge injustice.

This year that tradition continues as people around Australia come together on March 28 to demand Justice and a Fair Go For Refugees.

Justice and a Fair Go means:

  • Permanent visas and family reunion
  • Fair and timely assessment of all claims
  • Income support if unable to find employment
  • Releasing all refugees from indefinite detention
  • Ending offshore detention
  • Accepting New Zealand's long standing offer to resettle refugees from Australia’s offshore detention regime

Take action now, and help bring people to safety.

Dear Member of Parliament,

Palm Sunday has long stood as a day to challenge injustice, and this year I am calling on you to free the refugees that have been trapped by Australia's offshore detention system. After nearly 8 years, the humanitarian and economic cost is too great.

There are options to get people to safety. Since 2013 New Zealand has offered to resettle refugees from Australia's offshore detention system. Australia must now accept this offer.

Their situation is desperate. 13 people have lost their lives as a result of offshore detention. We cannot allow any more suffering.

Please, act urgently and with compassion, and get people to safety. #GameOver
