In the lead up to January 26 we’re calling on you to get behind our petition to #ChangetheDate of Australia Day.

For many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, 26 January is painful reminder of colonisation and not a day for celebration.

Momentum is growing to #ChangetheDate. Already a number of councils like Fremantle, Flinders Island, Darebin, Moreland and Hobart are changing the date and Triple J has moved its famous Hottest 100 countdown to another day!

Together, let's call on our elected representatives - from local councils and MPs to the federal government - to consult with the community ...

Dear Elected Representatives,

I call on you to:

- acknowledge that 26 January has a long and painful history for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and;

- consult with the community to choose a new date for Australia Day so it can be celebrated by all.
